All candidates should SEND A&A a COPY of the following items or credentials if you are interested in working for the U.S. military.
- The mininum requirements for a dentist are as follows. A doctorate in dentistry from an accredited dental school approved by the Council of Dental Education of the ADA. A current unrestricted license to practice dentistry in any one of the fifty states. Experience as a general DDS for at least 12 of the last 36 months OR received a doctorate in dentistry in the last 12 months. Successful completion of at least 12 classroom hours of continuing dental education in the last 18 months OR received a doctorate in dentistry in the last 12 months.
- The minimum requirements for a dental hygienist are as follows. A degree or certification in dental hygiene from a school of dental hygiene approved by the ADA. A current unrestricted license to practice dental hygiene in any one of the fifty states. Experience as a dental hygienist for at least 12 of the last 24 months OR graduated from a school of dental hygiene in the last 12 months. Succedssful completion of at least 12 classroom hours of continuing dental education in the last 18 months OR graduated from a school of dental hygiene in the last 12 months.
- The minimum requirements for a dental assistant are as follows. A certificate or Associates degree as DA/tech and 12 months of experience in the last 60 months OR certification from a military DA “A” school and 12 months of experience in the last 60 months OR certification from a Red Cross DA course and 12 months of experience in the last 60 months OR certification from a Red Cross DA course in the last 6 months OR 36 months experience in the last 60 months as a DA in private practice or a military clinic OR membership in good standing with American Association of DA’s with continuing education and 12 months experience OR graduated from a state accredited program for DA’s in the last 12 months. Certificate or permit for use of dental X-ray equipment. For a Certified or Expanded Functions DA, successful completion of Expanded Functions training program and certification OR graduation from an Expanded Functions DA program accredited within 5 years and 1,000 hours worked OR successful completion of Dental Assisting National Board Certification exam and 1,000 hours worked OR successful completion of a state Expanded Functions DA Certification Exam and a current certification.
